SAN DIEGO — April 20, 2012 — Progressive Security Screens, San Diego’s leading provider of stylish, high-tech security doors and windows, has announced that it has been named California’s first authorized manufacturer and dealer of the award-winning Crimsafe® security screens, according to Todd Hakanson, partner and owner of San Diego-based Progressive Security Screens (PSS).
“We are proud to associate our company with Crimsafe, the pioneer and worldwide leader in stainless steel security mesh products,” said Hakanson. “PSS now offers architecturally appealing security screen options for windows, hinged doors, and sliding doors with unmatched security features. Crimsafe’s strong mesh, locking mechanisms and frame to mesh attachment make it the industry standard in state-of-the-art protection for residential and commercial users.”
With Crimsafe’s Screw-Clamp™ technology, the stainless steel mesh is sandwiched between two serrated pieces of aluminum that “clamp” the mesh tight. Then all three are screwed together with proprietary stainless steel tamper-resistant screws. Dissimilar metals are separated by a Santoprene (rubber) bead that eliminates electrolysis that could lead to corrosion.
“Research shows that the most common method of entry through security screens is a well-placed series of kicks that bust the screen apart,” said Hakanson. “That won’t work with Crimsafe’s Tensile-Tuff® Security Mesh. You can kick repeatedly — burglars will definitely injure themselves before breaking through a Crimsafe screen.”
It’s also incredibly difficult to cut Crimsafe Tensile-Tuff Security mesh. “You can take a machete and hack away at the mesh and you’ll have a hard time getting anywhere. That’s because Crimsafe’s Security mesh has such strong ‘shear’ resistance. What this means is a burglar can’t make a hole in the mesh by stabbing it, and then enlarge it by using his weight to drag a knife through it,” Hakanson said.
Crimsafe’s three-point locks function provides security with exceptional ease of use — Just close the door, turn the dead bolt and it is locked. No difficult handle lifting to engage the locking mechanism, and Crimsafe features hardware that comes with a five year warranty with a 10 year warranty on the mesh and frame.
“Over the past four years Australian based Crimsafe has taken the appropriate steps to adapt their products to the American market,” Hakanson said. “Tracks and frames are designed to fit US manufactured door and window frames. Crimsafe is also launching a nationwide marketing campaign to support Crimsafe’s dealers, including PSS in San Diego County.
“With Crimsafe’s support, PSS now offers a much wider product range, including a complete commercial product line for retail, industrial and office users. The combination of attractiveness and security make the Crimsafe product ideal for multifamily applications, including apartments and condominiums. Condo board of directors love the product.”
